this is not the way
Balloons, phone calls and neon signs… The dust settles, distant memories echo in the background and that same old song keeps playing over and over. You can’t quite decide whether to run away or not.
This is not the way. There is another way. Any other way than this way.
This is Not the Way is about challenging values and the way the world perceives current social issues in particular violence against women and offers an alternative way of seeing things. We are keen to help educate and empower others and be a positive role model for people affected by these issues from around the world. The show includes movement, songs, audio, audience participation and text.

audience feedback
It was a very deep and tough subject to write about let alone perform solo. An incredible amount of courage required . It was visually and spiritually powerful. I felt inspired that no matter what I've been through I can be someone and do something great.
I liked the multi layered nature of the performance using different media, music and voice-overs to complement Lauren's stage presence. The set was rather classy and the gorilla intro worked well in getting people's attention.
I loved it all. I liked the symbolism of order and control with the knife and fork scene. It made me feel emotional yet hopeful. Keep it up, it's an important message.
It's a very powerful and clear message. I felt empathy for sexual abuse and rape survivors.
The different voices, the pictures, the music and the phone ringing were powerful. I felt emotional but also optimistic and inspired to change things. I'm really glad I came to see it.
I liked the direct messages and the emphasis that rape and sexual violence can happen to anyone. I thought it was really powerful and thought provoking. It was quite unsettling because it made me think about the bigger picture and also my own experiences.
It was a different approach that made me think and got the message across very well.
I found it thought provoking, it should be performed in 6th form colleges.
